Adult development provides daily activities for individuals served by ACSW. Activities occur in small groups during regular hours of operation, from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday at ACSW, Inc., 208 N. Arkansas Street, Crossett, Arkansas.
Adult development activities are conducted by an academics/life skills instructor in consultation with the consumers, case managers, and/or the Executive Director.
Adult development activities include, but are not limited to, basic math, reading, writing, and language development. Other activities address life-supporting skills such as counting currency, personal hygiene, budgeting, housekeeping, human relationships, sign recognition, health and safety issues such as first aid, bloodborne pathogens, communicable diseases, emergency procedures for various types of emergencies, and numerous other skills identified through individual assessments of persons served by ACSW.
Work activity skills training is provided daily between the hours of 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, at ACSW, Inc.,
105 N. Arkansas Street, Crossett, Arkansas and at contracted job sites throughout Crossett, Arkansas.
Work activity skills training is achieved through contracting with local businesses and individuals for services provided through ACSW including lawn maintenance, an on-site resale shop, a paper recycling center, rag cutting, and miscellaneous projects. Individuals are given choices among various work projects depending upon limitations presented by documented disabilities and their desire to participate in the work activity program.
Work activity skills training consists of actual work experiences that enable the individual served by ACSW to meet goals, interact with others, gain valuable work experience, provide a sense of self-worth, and enable the individual to live as productively as possible in the community in the least restrictive environment.
Habilitation training is offered daily to individuals served by ACSW between the hours of 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, at ACSW, Inc., 208 N. Arkansas Street, Crossett, Arkansas.
Habilitation training consists of pre-vocational training including, but not limited to, self-help, socialization, communication, problem solving, and safety issues. Training provided is based on the consumer’s desires and expected outcomes from participation in the program; the consumer has input and assists with setting the goals and objectives found in the Individualized Program Plan. Habilitation training enables the individual to gain reasonable skills necessary for living and working in the least restrictive environment.
Transportation is provided to and from the center for consumers served by ACSW, Inc. who need and/or desire this service. Individuals are transported to and from their principle place of residence to ACSW, Inc. via vans owned by ACSW and operated by ACSW personnel.
Vehicles embark from ACSW, Inc., located at 208 North Arkansas Street, Crossett, Arkansas, and travel throughout the service delivery area which includes Ashley and Chicot counties.
Vehicles leave ACSW at approximately 8:00 a.m. and return to ACSW at approximately 8:45 – 9:00 a.m., on Monday through Friday. Vehicles also return individuals served to their principle place of residence at approximately 3:00 – 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
ACSW has three (3) van routes that run Monday through Friday. Van drivers receive training required by DDS and ACSW through the Arkansas Transit Association and through ACSW. Vans are appropriately equipped for emergencies and van emergency drills are conducted to ensure that drivers and passengers are prepared in the event of an emergency.
Waiver services provide an array of individually tailored services and activities provided to enable eligible individuals to reside successfully in their own homes, with their families, or in an alternative living residence or setting. Without these services, the individual would require institutionalization.
These services require the individual to be deemed eligible, formally choose our agency and have received prior authorization from their PASSE before services can be rendered. Service hours vary based on the individual's plan of care. Services are provided by a Direct Support Professional (DSP) in the individual’s home and community.
Supportive Living
Supportive Living services are designed to assist individuals in acquiring, retaining, and improving the self-help, socialization and adaptive skills necessary to reside successfully in the home and community based setting.
Respite
Respite Services provide a short-term break for caregivers when needed.
Supplemental Support
Supplemental Support Services enables or helps improve the continuance of community living. This service is only accessed as a last resort when unforeseen problems arise that place the individual at risk of being institutionalized or cause a disruption in services.
